Job Overview

The Project Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing all on-site construction operations and managing subcontractor personnel from the initiation of the project until final client approval. This position serves as a key point of contact for clients, architects, and subcontractor/vendor representatives, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of construction-related issues. The Project Superintendent represents H. J. High Construction, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and supervising project staff while managing all aspects of documentation, schedules, and submittals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional demeanor that positively reflects H. J. High Construction.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop, implement, and adjust the short-term project schedule through to project completion.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and assess all on-site activities to ensure effective project execution.
  • Enforce company-wide safety protocols for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and compliance with contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Manage the punch list process within the specified contract timelines.
  • Execute project objectives, policies, and performance standards in alignment with corporate guidelines, including safety management.
  • Direct and manage the construction process to ensure alignment with design specifications, budget constraints, and timelines.
  • Engage with client representatives, architectural/engineering representatives, and local permitting authorities as necessary.
  • Support the Project Manager and Project Administrator with administrative tasks to facilitate construction oversight.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings with all project stakeholders.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by company leadership.
  • This role may require travel within Central Florida.
  • Become proficient with all company software and technology to ensure effective implementation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and subcontract agreements; familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam is advantageous.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential; professional conduct in a business setting is required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple activities and teams to achieve optimal efficiency.
