Role Overview:

This role functions as a technical data specialist, supporting the Director of Cost Optimization in achieving service excellence and conducting cost analyses to identify opportunities for reducing service costs while ensuring optimal customer service in Intermodal and Terminal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing reports and develop new reports as necessary, collaborating with the Business Intelligence and Data teams.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of daily and weekly reports in conjunction with relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with the cost control finance team to obtain detailed analyses.
  • Track all action items and their deadlines.
  • Provide support to the intermodal and operations teams as required.

Utilize Operations Dashboard reports to analyze data sets, identifying trends and patterns that may be critical for diagnosing rail cargo velocity challenges.

Perform thorough analyses to pinpoint issues and recommend solutions.

Prepare rail data for the Daily Flash Report for OEM meetings, effectively communicating trends and identifying areas for improvement.

Generate ad hoc reports as directed.

Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly operational and cost-related KPI reports for the Intermodal Department.


Additional Duties:
Undertake miscellaneous related tasks or projects as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • General understanding and practical knowledge of the transportation industry, particularly in areas such as Electronic Data Interface (EDI), KPI management, and Intermodal Operations.
  • Experience in process management and project management is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Familiarity with the LARA Intermodal system and various rail websites.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated presentation capabilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of general and industry experience is required.
