Role Purpose:

Food delivery drivers play an essential role in maintaining the food supply chain across the nation. Our drivers ensure that products reach customers promptly and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and cultivating enduring relationships with clients.

The driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products to clients safely and punctually, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.
  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (e.g., pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure all vehicles meet company safety standards and take appropriate actions as needed.
  • Report any safety concerns and/or required repairs.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving safety policies.
  • Promptly report any safety hazards. Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform inventory checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Complete all required paperwork related to freight accurately and legibly.
  • Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at customer locations.
  • Conduct damage assessments on items, scan, and notify supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy.
  • Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) when required. Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are properly locked and secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bringing them to the driver check-in and completing necessary documentation. Unload all equipment and materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Maintain a daily record of service hours and log them in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean and organized as needed.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

12+ months of commercial driving experience
High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
Valid CDL A
Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
Must be at least 21 years old
Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
Pass road test
Valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card
Capable of hand-lifting and utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers, lift gates, and/or other tools to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; product generally ranges from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on the location
