About the Role

The Senior Buyer, Procurement is a key member of the Babson College team, responsible for providing high-quality procurement services to the entire campus community. This role requires a strategic thinker who can optimize purchasing dollars, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Services
    • Prepare and issue invitations to bid, requests for proposals, and requests for information.
    • Negotiate and review contracts to ensure optimal purchasing dollars.
    • Oversee cost-reduction and cost-avoidance efforts, including ensuring accurate invoicing and recommending vendors with special pricing.
  • Contract Management
    • Compile and enforce standard policies and procedures for contract management.
    • Review agreements for necessary documentation and collaborate with the Office of the General Counsel as needed.
    • Assess vendor compliance with insurance requirements and provide training as necessary.
  • Procurement Operations
    • Work with General Counsel, Procurement leadership, and the Babson Community to ensure required documents accompany all contracts and purchase orders.
    • Review Purchase Requisitions for required documentation and proper authorizations.
    • Issue POs and review all POs/contracts monthly.
  • Financial Management
    • Process expense reports for charges against PCard and cash sales for revenue payments.
    • Address any inaccurate information directly with the employee or department.
  • Procurement Systems
    • Manage the monthly close-out process for all POs, open requisitions, and terminated contracts in Workday.
    • Monitor Procurement email accounts and respond to concerns as needed.
  • Professional Development
    • Understand and utilize the capabilities of Workday, including preparing standard reports and training the community on Procurement processes.
    • Interface regularly with the Receiving and Accounts Payable departments to ensure proper receipt of material and accurate reporting.
  • Representation
    • Represent the College in trade associations and professional societies.
    • Assist and support campus sustainability efforts related to building construction and renovation.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree (preferably Business related)
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible roles within purchasing
  • Skills
    • Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Knowledge of contract documents
    • Strong analytical skills, particularly financial analysis
    • Ability to be flexible and willing to assume new tasks and special projects
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems
