About the Organization: The Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security (REFS) plays a pivotal role in leading USAID's initiatives aimed at agricultural growth and environmental sustainability. Through its leadership in the Feed the Future (FTF) initiative, USAID addresses global hunger and food security challenges, helping vulnerable nations enhance their food systems, improve nutrition, and build resilience against various shocks.
Position Overview: The International Affairs Coordinator will join the Donor and Multilateral Team within the Policy, Analysis, and Engagement Office. This role is essential for fostering food security collaborations with key bilateral donors and participating in multilateral discussions, while also addressing other critical areas such as climate change and inclusive development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Global Partnership Policy Development (60%): Collaborate with partner agencies to understand and align priorities and strategies; negotiate policy positions in food security; maintain comprehensive knowledge of FTF initiatives and related priorities; contribute to the development of cooperation agreements with bilateral and multilateral partners; provide strategic guidance for multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Liaison and Relationship Management (40%): Cultivate and sustain relationships with external partners, including bilateral donors and international organizations; prepare U.S. Government representatives for engagements on food security; actively represent USAID in multilateral forums; serve as a liaison for cross-Bureau interests; offer strategic support to senior leaders and USAID staff in external engagements.
Qualifications: Candidates with specialized experience in food security, resilience, climate adaptation, and social protection are highly encouraged to apply. For the FL-02 Grade Level, candidates must possess one year of specialized experience at the FL-03 (GS-13) grade level or equivalent.
