About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal level electrical engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Sensor Controls & Electronics (SCE) Department, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of FPGA-based designs for control and/or signal processing radar applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop FPGA-based systems for radar applications
  • Work with cross-functional teams to determine technical approaches and solutions
  • Lead small teams and mentor junior engineers
  • Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software engineers, and program management to ensure product success
  • Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements
  • Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
  • Verify designs utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests
  • Create complete documentation, including requirements, verification plans, and user guides
  • Support internal and external technical reviews
  • Mentor junior engineers
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog
  • Experience designing and integrating with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Actel/Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs
  • Experience using synthesis tools: Synplify, Xilinx Vivado, or Intel Quartus Pro
  • Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope / Signal Tap
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog
  • Experience using RTL simulation tools such as Questasim
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware
  • Existing security clearance
