POSITION OVERVIEW

The Licensed Nutrition Specialist (LNS) plays a vital role within the comprehensive healthcare team. The LNS delivers the highest standard of nutrition intervention as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This role encompasses both medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling. The LNS may operate on-site at Marathon primary care health centers or provide care through virtual platforms.

The LNS is responsible for facilitating, developing, monitoring, measuring, and reporting on dietary educational initiatives that complement the On-Site Marathon Health and Wellness Center managed by Marathon Health.

The LNS will provide medical nutrition therapy for patients referred by their Marathon provider, focusing on individuals with one or more chronic condition risk factors influenced by nutrition and dietary interventions. Additionally, the LNS may offer nutrition counseling and education to individuals and groups as appropriate.

The LNS will present evidence-based information on improving health, preventing disease, and modifying behaviors to individual patients and client groups through dietary, nutritional, and behavioral changes. The LNS will be responsible for preparing quarterly reports for the account management team for client review, conducting meetings, and planning informative, engaging, and effective programs.

This position is integral to the integrated health center team, collaborating with health center providers, staff, the account management team, and the Population Health and Wellness Team to support the primary care setting and enhance the comprehensive care of participants. The LNS will contribute to the existing diabetes management program through coordinated care and medical nutrition therapy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver individual medical nutrition therapy for patients referred by providers.
  • Design and promote dietary education programs as necessary.
  • Collaborate with and educate on-site providers regarding dietary strategies and interventions.
  • Review client population health and risk data, as requested, and consult on dietary programs to enhance the effectiveness of on-site initiatives.
  • Partner with the client's existing diabetes management program, providing medical nutrition therapy, feedback, and critical data management for the program.
  • Stay updated on innovative dietary and nutrition skills, knowledge, interventions, and behavior change strategies to promote wellness, prevent chronic diseases, and manage chronic conditions influenced by nutrition.
QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree in a nutrition-related field; a Master's Degree is preferred. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and registration with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) for a minimum of 5 years. Current state licensure as a Dietitian (L.D.) and licensed in the state where medical nutrition therapy will be provided. A minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals with chronic conditions. Demonstrated proficiency in both virtual and on-site delivery of the Nutrition Care Process, Nutrition Counseling, and Nutrition Education.

COMPENSATION

The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year. The actual offer may vary based on geographic location and the candidate's years of experience and/or skill level.
