Position Overview:
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to deliver administrative assistance to the General Assembly and Human Rights section, while also serving as the Executive Assistant to the Ambassador of the General Assembly. The successful candidate will collaborate within a dynamic team that plays a crucial role in managing the UK's engagement with the United Nations General Assembly and advancing human rights initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the General Assembly and Human Rights teams, including managing information, preparing briefings, overseeing the shared inbox, handling correspondence, coordinating travel arrangements, and organizing meetings and events.
- Assist the General Assembly Ambassador with diary management and various tasks, including basic secretarial duties, while also supporting other senior staff during peak periods.
- Facilitate incoming visits from high-level officials by organizing logistics, setting up programs, and coordinating catering services.
- Manage office operations for the UK Mission, including budget oversight and supply management.
- Support team activities, particularly during busy periods, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Assist in preparations for significant UN events, including the General Assembly High-Level Week and the Commission on the Status of Women sessions.
- Contribute to the development and updating of forward-looking products for the General Assembly team.
- Provide coverage for team members as needed, including flexible working hours.
- Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in a relevant administrative role.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player, willing to assist colleagues across various sections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with the UN system is advantageous but not mandatory.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
