Job Summary

The Program Officer provides critical financial, operational, and administrative support to Malteser International Americas' U.S. government-funded project portfolio. This role involves liaising and coordinating with in-country offices and U.S.-based departments to ensure effective support in close collaboration with the Compliance and Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate budget tracking and forecasting of in-country expenditures
  • Assisting in preparing, reviewing, and submitting financial reports and advance or reimbursement requests to donors
  • Providing guidance and support to projects for large-scale procurements
  • Liaising with donors regarding administrative and contractual matters
  • Supporting in-country finance teams with budget development for program extensions and realignments
  • Monitoring sub-agreements and liaising with US-based sub-recipients
  • Providing logistical and administrative support to international project staff and consultants in close collaboration with the HQ Human Resources department
  • Supporting with developing and updating of manuals, guidelines, and policies
  • Facilitating team meetings and reporting out to leadership on project status
  • Supporting with visualization of budget and implementation status for meetings and reports
  • Traveling to project offices to provide financial, operational, and administrative support and training
Responsibilities

This role requires a strong understanding of financial and operational processes, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 1 year of experience working in an international project support environment.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities while maintaining consistent, high-quality performance and meeting deadlines
  • Strong sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Fluent English and working knowledge of Spanish
  • Ability to work comfortably with Microsoft Office
  • Experience living and/or working abroad, preferably in Latin America
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
What We Offer

Malteser International Americas offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience. We also offer health insurance with a portion of the employee's premium subsidized by the employer, 20 Paid Time Off days per year, and 12 Paid Holidays per year. Additionally, we offer a 401k with the first 5% matched by employer and flexible work from home options available.
