Orion Talent is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Central Energy Plant Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the University's Power Plant and complex, mission-critical heating, power, and chilled water production facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all day-to-day operations, including safety, maintenance, and technical aspects of the plant.
  • Lead a team of 35 salaried and hourly union employees to provide safe, reliable, and efficient steam, electric, and chilled water to all Ithaca campus facilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve plant efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other university departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Manage the $40M Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget and prioritize capital projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
  • Plant manager experience and desire to mentor other engineers.
  • NYS Professional Engineering license (PE) or commitment to achieve this credential upon hire.
  • Utility energy experience in a decision-making, operational leadership, and problem-solving role.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Independence, autonomy, and resourcefulness.
  • Leadership approach with a focus on performance and results, including having hard conversations and excellent soft skills.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary range of $135K-$165K, with a target salary of $150K.
