Bioinformatics Specialist

The Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research is seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Breedbase platform, a web-based breeding management and analysis software used by breeders in Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement tools and databases for the Breedbase system
• Develop and maintain RESTful web services and integrate with existing systems
• Collaborate with breeders and researchers to understand their needs and develop solutions
• Travel to breeding centers in Africa to train breeders and provide technical support

Requirements:

• Strong background in programming, computational biology, or related field
• Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, d3, SQL, Perl, and Linux
• Good communication and collaboration skills
