Job Summary

The University of Michigan's Patient Food and Nutrition Services department is seeking a full-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to provide high-quality nutrition care to pediatric patients. The successful candidate will perform comprehensive nutrition assessments, develop personalized care plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough nutrition assessments and develop evidence-based care plans using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process.
  • Provide expert nutrition recommendations and education to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings, task forces, and projects to advance nutrition care and services.
  • Contribute to the training and orientation of new employees and maintain competency standards outlined by the Department of Patient Food and Nutrition Services.
Requirements
  • Active registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in nutrition-related field.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO), Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), or Certified Specialist in Pediatrics (CSP) certification.
Work Schedule

The standard work schedule is varied, with flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the department and patients. The successful candidate must be able to work a specified shift and ensure appropriate Registered Dietitian Nutritionist coverage during the hours of operation established by the Department of Patient Food and Nutrition Services.

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act, and pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates.
