The University of Michigan is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nutrition Specialist to join our Patient Food and Nutrition Services team. This full-time role involves delivering comprehensive nutrition care to a diverse patient population, including those undergoing medical and surgical treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough nutrition assessments and formulate individualized nutrition care plans in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process.
- Provide evidence-based nutrition interventions and participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds.
- Deliver nutrition education to patients and their families, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor Dietetic Interns, fostering their professional development.
- Engage in departmental meetings and contribute to various projects aimed at improving service delivery.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant policies regarding patient confidentiality and health information.
Qualifications
- Active registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Ability to navigate the patient care environment effectively, including standing and walking for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a nutrition-related field.
- Specialized certifications such as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC).
