Job Summary

The City of Chesapeake seeks a highly skilled Human Resources Coordinator II to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of personnel actions, including new hires, status changes, and terminations, while maintaining compliance with City policies and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze information to review and approve personnel actions for all City departments.
  • Update and maintain accurate documentation related to personnel actions.
  • Provide support to departmental payroll/HR staff with related personnel activities, including conveying policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate training on the City's Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports, records, and other documentation.

Requirements

  • VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate's degree in human resources management or a closely related field.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related experience.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
