The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a professional Custodian II to maintain a clean and pleasing appearance of our building. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing interior cleaning tasks, operating related equipment, and assisting other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform interior cleaning tasks, including vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, cleaning spills, sweeping or mopping floors, removing scuff marks from walls and floors, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, gum removal, dusting, odor control, and trash removal.
  • Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Assist other departments and branches as needed for ongoing or special events.
  • Report staff and member requests to your supervisor, record and report all needed repairs and additional cleaning needs, and report incidents and hazardous conditions to your supervisor.
  • Ensure the YMCA building and property is secure during your shift.

Requirements:

  • Commit to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Learn and practice the safe and correct operation of equipment assigned to perform required tasks.
  • Learn and practice the correct procedures and techniques used in cleaning the facility.
  • Read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Report and record maintenance requests.
  • Hold knowledge of cleaning methods and custodial, maintenance, and office equipment.
  • Understand the upkeep and care of equipment.
