Job Summary

The Chief Information Officer is responsible for establishing and guiding the strategic long-term objectives, policies, and procedures for Information Technology Services. This role involves assessing the University's long-term systems requirements and identifying necessary hardware acquisitions to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees staffing resources within the department, providing leadership and direction to department heads, articulating university needs, identifying development requirements, and facilitating professional growth opportunities. Addresses employee conflicts and performance challenges while engaging with students, faculty, and staff to gather feedback and recommendations.
  • Resolves issues related to resource allocation and provides oversight for each department within Information Technology Services.
  • Manages departmental budgets and procurement processes. Identifies opportunities for efficiency improvements and implements cost-saving strategies. Evaluates external technology purchase requests to ensure alignment with University objectives and compatibility with existing technology.
  • Conducts research and assessment of emerging technologies. Engages with developers, integrators, and peer institutions to explore potential solutions for challenges and enhancement opportunities. Participates in product demonstrations and presents technology solutions to University leadership.
  • Coordinates technology initiatives across the campus. Identifies opportunities, defines objectives, and formulates plans for projects aimed at enhancing existing services or introducing new technologies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.

8 years of management experience in information technology within a collaborative environment.

5 years of experience in business continuity planning, auditing, risk management, and contract negotiation.

5 years of customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Experience in higher education settings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

Familiarity with current technologies and their applications in higher education.

Awareness of technology trends to identify future opportunities and areas for enhancement.

Understanding of computer networks, databases, application development, and user administration.

Comprehensive knowledge of information technology and information security principles.

Effective oral and written communication abilities.

Abilities

Capable of evaluating multiple non-technical symptoms to identify technology solutions.

Adept at adapting to unforeseen situations and challenges.
