Job Overview

Objective:

To deliver direct support to individuals facing challenges related to substance use disorders, mental health issues, and other concurrent conditions. We are looking for empathetic and dedicated professionals who are passionate about assisting those dealing with addiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in outreach initiatives across urban areas where substance-related activities are prevalent.
  • Perform comprehensive psychosocial evaluations to gather historical data and pinpoint initial treatment concerns through interviews.
  • Participate in regular interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute a social work perspective to the holistic management of clients and adhere to legal obligations set by local or state agencies.
  • Facilitate educational and therapeutic groups for clients and their families.
  • Design and coordinate tailored discharge plans for individuals.
  • Document therapeutic interventions and progress in client records through handwritten notes.
  • Report any suspected abuse incidents following established protocols from relevant agencies.
  • Develop and implement community education initiatives to raise awareness about mental health challenges and available resources, supporting the organization's outreach efforts.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies utilizing training in managing aggressive behaviors.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Provide assistance for incoming assessment and referral inquiries.
  • Support the safety and security measures for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, sociology, political science, criminal justice, pastoral counseling, education, or related fields.
  • A minimum of one year of direct care experience, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Experience in outreach services is essential.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle record check.
  • Access to a vehicle is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in case management, time management, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Experience in delivering both group and individual therapy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Capability to maintain composure in potentially volatile situations, including verbal or physical confrontations.
  • Aptitude to focus and work effectively amidst distractions such as noise and foot traffic.
  • Flexibility to frequently shift between tasks and handle interruptions.
  • Ability to remain patient and adaptable when faced with differing opinions.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting, and discerning various attributes of objects through touch.
  • Effective communication skills to convey important information clearly, even in urgent situations.
