About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Co-Responder to join our team at the University of Pennsylvania. As a key member of our Division of Public Safety, you will play a critical role in providing first responder behavioral health services and facilitating resource connection in partnership with individuals in crisis on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to calls for service and conduct socio-clinical assessments to identify individuals in crisis
  • Provide immediate evaluation and support to individuals in crisis, linking them with emergency medical care and/or other University and community support services
  • Collaborate with police personnel and other emergency response resources to respond to crisis situations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and resources to ensure seamless referrals and support
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in crisis intervention and response
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or another human services related field and at least 2 years related experience OR an equivalent combination
  • Possession of any of the following licenses or certifications: Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC); Registered Nurse (R.N.); Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (C.R.N.P.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with youth, crisis situations, and diverse publics, preferably in an educational environment
