Job Overview

The Senior Analyst, Whole Loan Trading plays a pivotal role in the acquisition, valuation, and sale of whole mortgage loans. This position requires a deep understanding of mortgage markets, credit risk analysis, and trading strategies to maximize profitability while managing risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare whole loan offerings by reviewing loans to be included in offerings and producing a tape for offering.
  • Identify which loans are ready for inclusion in future auctions and review the whole loan data management system to ensure accurate condition and exception reasons.
  • Develop and enhance the Whole Loan Data Management and reporting system to track selection, aging, investor kick frequency, and reasons.
  • Manage the whole loan data management system to track and select loans for whole loan trades.
  • Complete ongoing analysis of whole loan best execution, including daily pricing analysis and competitive pricing in bulk.
  • Identify trade optimization opportunities and build connections to front-end pricing strategies.
  • Review all early pay-off and early payment claims with Mortgage Finance to rebut or work to minimize loss negotiating price adjustments.
  • Develop additional executive dashboards and reports to provide full transparency to management on whole loan executions and pipeline position.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of work experience in whole loan mortgage trading or mortgage-backed securities trading experience.
  • Strong Excel, SQL, and analytical skills.
  • Critical thinking and strong math skills to analyze complex financial data, assess risk, and make informed decisions.
  • Understanding of financial concepts such as Amortization, Present Value, Future Value, Net PV, Return, and Discount.
  • A team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently.
