Job Summary

SAIC is seeking a highly organized and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer-Test Director to join our team at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Propulsion Test Facility (NUWC - PTF) in Newport, RI. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading projects from concept to completion, working closely with customers, engineers, and technicians to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide test director support, including interfacing with customers to define key test requirements and establishing supporting test documentation.
  • Lead projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, integration plans, and test reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and technicians to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET level clearance.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, and experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of best design practices to prevent issues during the fabrication phase of the project.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation.
