POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Regional Veterinary Operations Leader is to oversee, mentor, and guide veterinary professionals within their designated facilities to ensure that VCA can attract, nurture, engage, and retain skilled veterinarians who will provide exceptional care and achieve desired operational outcomes.

This position fosters a culture of excellence and quality care by the veterinary team (DVM, CVT, VA) in their assigned facilities, ensuring that every pet receives consistent treatment aligned with our core principles of quality (safe, effective, client-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care).

The Regional Veterinary Operations Leader collaborates with the Practice Manager (if applicable) to promote a culture of excellence and quality care by the veterinary team in their assigned facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Embody and promote the core values of VCA within oneself and the team.

Act as a quality advocate by communicating, demonstrating, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence at the facility level.

Conduct regular facility visits and quality assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and VCA quality benchmarks.
Develop, mentor, and guide veterinary professionals on the essential skills required to deliver outstanding medical care.

In partnership with the Director of Veterinary Quality, cultivate a successful and expanding veterinary team through recruitment and onboarding initiatives.

Achieve veterinary quality performance indicators to support the facility, market, and organizational goals.
Ensure that facility operations comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Comfortable working around animals.
Client demands may require more than standard working hours.
Able to follow instructions and resolve issues.
Capable of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to animals that may exhibit aggressive behavior.
Some travel may be necessary.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must obtain state-controlled substance and federal DEA licenses within a specified timeframe of employment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
Veterinary license in good standing.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgical practice.
