Job Summary

As a Custodial Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the courthouse facilities. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the environment is both aesthetically pleasing and operationally efficient, thereby safeguarding county assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collect and dispose of waste from all designated areas.
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and protocols.
  • Sanitize and maintain surfaces within the building, including offices and restrooms.
  • Provide support for special events and meetings through clean-up efforts.
  • Assist in the arrangement and dismantling of equipment and furnishings as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of essential supplies and communicate needs with the Courthouse Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure that all facilities are in safe and operational condition.
  • Clean windows and glass surfaces thoroughly.
  • Perform floor maintenance including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Conduct floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, and buffing (training provided).
  • Carry out light preventative maintenance tasks, such as changing filters.

Other Duties:
  • Exhibit a positive demeanor while interacting with the public.
  • Take initiative to foster a clean and inviting environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma is required. Previous experience in custodial work or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with effective cleaning methods.
  • Preferred experience with industrial cleaning equipment, including floor buffers and scrubbers (training available).
  • Knowledge of safe disposal methods for hazardous materials.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in various workplace situations.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures for outdoor tasks.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying heavy items, up to 60 lbs.
  • Position requires physical activity, including walking, bending, and standing for extended periods.
