Job Summary

This position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division of the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. The incumbent performs both janitorial and custodial services, including textile distribution and inventory activity, sanitizing and disinfecting, waste removal, cleaning of blinds, replacing curtains, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, discharge cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing and extracting, polishing floors and applying floor finishes.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain VA facilities for Veterans and their families, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patient care.
  • Perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas.
  • Empty waste baskets, clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows and ceilings, refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers, and move furniture.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, carrying out assignments and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, using personal protective equipment as required.
Work Schedule

Work schedule assignment is based on operational need. Days: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm or Evening: Monday-Friday 4:30pm to 1:00am. Additionally, scheduled for every 3rd weekend/holiday.

Requirements
  • Experience in janitorial or custodial services, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, carrying out assignments and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Physical ability to perform light and heavy cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
