The Patient Access Coordinator serves as the primary clinical liaison for patients seeking appointments and care-related inquiries within the Cedars-Sinai Health System. This role involves managing incoming calls for both primary care and specialized services within the Health System. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, addressing patient clinical questions, resolving issues, and escalating calls as necessary. As a clinical team member, the Coordinator is expected to execute all job functions independently according to departmental standards with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Handles and resolves a minimum of 60 calls daily, acting as the main patient contact for assigned specialties within the Medical Network with minimal supervision. Guides, directs, and refers patients to the appropriate multi-specialty areas while ensuring a seamless experience for the patient. Utilizes scheduling systems/applications to arrange patient appointments efficiently. Identifies effective solutions to complaints and disputes, managing all concerns with professionalism and courtesy. Appropriately escalates patient calls in accordance with established guidelines. Delivers exceptional service through effective intake processes, diligence, and expertise with each interaction. Assists the department Lead in communicating updates to staff and distributing relevant materials. Aids in the training and cross-training of new hires and existing personnel. Coordinates various administrative support activities, including facilities management, patient billing, utilization management, quality assurance, and risk management.

Qualifications and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED is required. At least one (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related field is required. Preferred: One (1) year of experience managing multi-line and high-volume telephone communications in a healthcare environment. Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory.
