Tour Programs Manager

Job Summary:
The Honolulu Museum of Art is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tour Programs Manager to join our team. As a key member of our interpretive team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a suite of docent-led, community-led, and self-guided tours for our visitors. You will work closely with our Associate Director of Learning and Engagement to develop interpretive strategy and pedagogy for museum tours and conceptualize the long-term vision for growth of tour programming.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and write new content for self-guided and docent-led tours, geared towards a variety of audiences, on a quarterly rotation.
* Collaborate with community members and artists to co-create community/artist-led tours.
* Work closely with HoMA's interpretive team to develop content that is aligned and complementary across all interpretive activities and resources.
* Provide continuing education for docents in current pedagogical approaches.
* Evaluate, conduct regular observations, and provide constructive feedback to docents.
* Create training guides for new docent-led tours and train docents on their knowledge and ability to converse about the museum's collection and exhibitions.
Requirements:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Museum Studies, Art History, or related field and two to five years of comprehensive related experience.
* Foundational knowledge of teaching and developing curriculum.
* Demonstrates a broad knowledge of inquiry based pedagogical theory and technique, as well as a strong art historical expertise.
* Exceptional ability to manage, lead and build the capabilities of a driven, bright team of volunteers.
* Ability to create communities and sense of belonging.
* Strong communication, both written and verbal, and organizational skills.
* Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through.
Benefits:
* Competitive salary range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year.

Working Conditions and Atmosphere:
Works in an office environment. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with some evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to operate general office equipment including computer, copier, printers, fax machine, etc. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 25 lbs. of general office material or equipment. Ability to work some evening and weekend hours. The employee must be able to fulfill all Essential Duties with or without a reasonable accommodation.
