Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant, your duties will encompass a wide range of financial activities, including:
  • Managing general ledger responsibilities and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Conducting financial profitability assessments and engaging in various special projects as required.
  • Handling tight deadlines while overseeing multiple accounting tasks, such as general ledger preparation and year-end audit facilitation.

Essential Functions
Your primary functions will include:
  • Executing all monthly closing processes and generating monthly financial statements on both accrual and cash basis for the organization and its affiliates.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Reviewing budgets and forecasts, along with preparing detailed analysis and variance reports.
  • Coordinating the budget preparation process and providing necessary support.
  • Preparing year-end documentation for audits and tax filings.
  • Generating financial reports for management and the Board of Directors.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations for the organization’s accounts.
  • Overseeing cash management to ensure daily operational needs are met and reserves are maintained.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Collaboration
You will work closely with the Controller and the accounting team to establish robust internal policies, procedures, and controls.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
  • GAAP accounting principles.
  • Budgeting methodologies and cash forecasting techniques.
  • Cash disbursement policies and auditing practices.
  • Financial management and bank reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency in Yardi and QuickBooks software.

Skill Level:
  • Exceptional writing and communication capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with financial data and records.
  • Ability to interpret legal documents and ensure compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and basic macros.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering effective working relationships.

Ability to:
  • Analyze budget variances and provide insightful status updates.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive budgets.
  • Forecast cash flow accurately.
  • Prepare for audits and tax submissions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts efficiently.
  • Organize complex data effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Create corporate operating proformas.
  • Record complex transactions accurately.

Education & Experience
A combination of education and relevant experience may fulfill the educational requirements. A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting, particularly in real estate accounting concepts.
