Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs. The successful candidate will provide support to families of children and youth with behavioral health and/or autism spectrum disorder, connecting them to screening, evaluation, treatment, and other supports.
Key Responsibilities- Provide emotional support and positive role modeling to parents and caregivers
- Coach families to develop advocacy skills and make informed decisions
- Connect families to screening, evaluation, treatment, and other supports
- Facilitate support groups, workgroups, trainings, and presentations
- Represent the organization at community events and meetings
- Minimum one year of experience working with families impacted by autism or behavioral health challenges
- Knowledge of Philadelphia child-serving systems and resources
- Completion of Family Peer Support training and Autism Family Peer Support training within 3 months of hire
- Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprint, and Criminal Background Clearances
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Knowledge of Systems of Care and trauma-informed care
- Experience with Child and/or Family Advocacy
- Experience working with families and communities on behalf of children with mental health issues
The Family Peer Support Specialist will work in a variety of settings, including the Philadelphia Family Voices office, community settings, schools, family homes, treatment programs, and other locations as needed.
