Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs. The successful candidate will provide support to families of children and youth with behavioral health and/or autism spectrum disorder, connecting them to screening, evaluation, treatment, and other supports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families, empowering them to make informed decisions and advocate for their child's needs.
  • Connect families to community resources, services, and support groups, promoting a strength-based perspective and family-driven model.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, educators, and social services, to ensure comprehensive support for families.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in family support and advocacy.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience working with families impacted by autism or behavioral health challenges.
  • Knowledge of Philadelphia child-serving systems and resources for children and adults with autism or behavioral challenges.
  • Completion of Family Peer Support training and Autism Family Peer Support training within three months of hire.
  • Reliable mode of transportation and ability to travel within the community.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Systems of Care and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience with child and family advocacy.
  • Experience working with families and communities on behalf of children with mental health issues.
Work Environment

The Family Peer Support Specialist will work in a variety of settings, including the Philadelphia Family Voices office, community settings, schools, family homes, treatment programs, and other community-based locations. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job duties.
