About the Job

The Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Development to join its team. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this individual will play a critical role in advancing the organization's mission and communications.

Job Summary

ILSR is a national nonprofit organization that has been challenging concentrated corporate power and providing research and policy models to enable communities to take charge of their local economies for over 50 years. The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for planning, directing, and carrying out the overall fundraising strategy for the organization, including managing and maintaining relationships with funding partners, such as charitable foundations, organizations, government agencies, and individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support ILSR's mission and communications
  • Manage and maintain relationships with funding partners, including charitable foundations, organizations, government agencies, and individuals
  • Plan, direct, and carry out fundraising events and campaigns
  • Research and write grant proposals and reports
  • Develop and maintain a donor database and track fundraising progress
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy
  • Represent ILSR at conferences and meetings
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, with a strong background in fundraising and grant writing
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Commitment to building local power and fighting corporate control, racial equity, and social justice
