Job Title: Dietary Unit Ambassador

Job Summary:

The Dietary Unit Ambassador will provide exceptional patient care by presenting menus, instructing patients on meal ordering, and ensuring food is handled safely and delivered accurately. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, nurses, and other healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Presents menus and instructs patients on the meal ordering process
  • Evaluates patient's ability to access and function in the Room Service Dining program
  • Serves patient meals and nourishments, ensuring food is handled safely and delivered accurately
  • Responds to patient, nurse, and call center inquiries, distributing menus as needed
  • Delivers nourishments and tube feedings to patients in accordance with patient diet orders
  • Provides basic nutritional services to patients, including meal and snack delivery
  • Takes unit nourishment inventory and stock
  • Serves as a liaison between patients and the department, providing guest relations support
  • Relays patient food requests and comments to the call center and food service supervisor/program support supervisor
  • Delivers or relays messages from nursing and other healthcare staff to the department

Requirements:

Possession of a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment and one year of food service experience in a healthcare setting. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
