We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Scientist with a background in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline, particularly with hands-on experience in Mass Spectrometry and HPLC techniques. In this role, you will be tasked with conducting, troubleshooting, and independently designing high-throughput experiments utilizing our cutting-edge LC-MS/MS and HPLC instruments. A profound understanding of mass spectrometry, HPLC, and large-scale 'omics' analysis methods, along with practical experience in method development within a mass spectrometry-focused laboratory, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute high-throughput experiments to analyze lipid content in serum using tandem MS platforms for biological characterization or analytical method development.
  • Analyze lipidomic data independently to derive insights related to cancer biology or analytical method optimization.
  • Develop methods for analyte separation, detection, and quantification using HPLC with ELSD.
  • Establish quarterly objectives, metrics, and milestones, tracking progress over time.
  • Collaborate with fellow scientists, research associates, and technicians to organize and allocate tasks weekly.
  • Present research findings and progress updates in team meetings to a diverse audience.
  • Operate, maintain, and optimize LC-MS instruments with precision.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, calibrate equipment, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and results through an electronic lab notebook.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and optimization of analytical methodologies.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in mass spectrometry technology.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with M.S. or B.S. degrees accompanied by relevant expertise and experience.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of practical experience in operating and maintaining HPLC/LC-MS systems.
  • Knowledge of biological sample preparation and extraction techniques for subsequent LC-MS and HPLC analysis.
  • Required industry experience in biotech or pharma is based on degree: 2+ years preferred for PhD holders, 3+ years for M.S. holders, and 5+ years for B.S. holders.
  • Proficiency in LC-MS and HPLC operation and troubleshooting is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

The compensation range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 annually, reflecting various geographic considerations. Actual salary and seniority level will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
