We are in search of a skilled and knowledgeable Scientist holding a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline, with specialized expertise in Mass Spectrometry and HPLC techniques. In this role, you will be tasked with executing, troubleshooting, and independently designing high-throughput experiments utilizing our cutting-edge LC-MS/MS and HPLC instruments. A profound understanding of mass spectrometry, HPLC, large-scale 'omics' analysis methodologies, and practical experience in method development within a mass spectrometry-centric laboratory environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute high-throughput experiments to analyze lipid content in serum using a tandem MS platform for biological characterization or analytical platform enhancement.
  • Analyze lipidomic data independently to derive insights related to cancer biology or analytical platform development.
  • Develop methods for analyte separation, detection, and quantification utilizing HPLC with ELSD.
  • Establish quarterly objectives, metrics, and milestones, and monitor progress over time.
  • Collaborate with fellow scientists, research associates, and technicians to organize and distribute weekly tasks.
  • Present research findings and progress updates to a diverse audience during team meetings.
  • Operate, maintain, and optimize LC-MS instruments with precision and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, calibrate equipment, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes using an electronic lab notebook.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of analytical methodologies.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in mass spectrometry technology.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with M.S. or B.S. degrees who possess relevant expertise and experience.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience with HPLC/LC-MS systems is required.
  • Familiarity with biological sample preparation and extraction techniques for downstream LC-MS and HPLC analysis.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is preferred based on degree: 2+ years for PhD holders, 3+ years for M.S. holders, and 5+ years for B.S. holders.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting LC-MS and HPLC systems is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and capability to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

The compensation range for this position is between $105,000 and $125,000 annually, reflecting various geographic factors. Actual salary and seniority level will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
