Department Overview:
The Health Economics and Evaluation Research (HEER) Program operates under the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

The HEER team investigates the effects of federal initiatives, statewide demonstrations, local programs, environmental crises, and legislative policies.

This program has assessed the influence of policies and initiatives on health insurance access, healthcare delivery, population health outcomes, and potential cost savings.


Position Overview:


The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research is a leading organization committed to making health data accessible and promoting health equity.

Through projects such as the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) and the Health Economics and Evaluation Research (HEER) Program, we offer valuable data to policymakers, advocates, and the general public.

Compensation & Benefits:
*UCLA offers a comprehensive pay range. Actual salary offers take into account various factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications:
3 years of relevant work or educational experience. (Required)


Proven ability to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define objectives; identify issues; formulate logical conclusions and propose solutions.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and at least one statistical software (SAS, R, or STATA), encompassing data access, retrieval, management, analysis, and presentation.

Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate tasks with competing deadlines. (Required)

Detail-oriented with strong organizational, documentation, and analytical problem-solving skills sufficient to manage multiple projects and meet often-competing deadlines. (Required)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for interaction with Principal Investigators, research and administrative staff, and external stakeholders. Exceptional writing skills to produce reports, policy briefs, and articles that cater to a diverse audience. (Required)

Ability to research, analyze, and summarize information to make informed determinations.

Skill in evaluating information, problem-solving, and procedures to define objectives; identify issues; formulate logical conclusions and recommend solutions.

Capacity to understand and apply knowledge of data privacy, confidentiality, and data safety concerns. (Required)


Familiarity with state Medicaid programs and policy development and implementation, along with experience in health policy analysis, program execution, and healthcare systems evaluation within California.

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)

Master's Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field. (Preferred)
