Department Overview:
The Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT) department is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge technical services and solutions that align with the objectives of Student Affairs and the broader University mission.
Our team collaborates closely with various campus stakeholders, providing leadership in the development of effective and efficient information technology services tailored for students, staff, faculty, and the community.
SAIT primarily focuses on offering technical support to public-facing Student Affairs departments and facilitating several online services for the campus community.
Position Overview:
The Business Systems Analyst II plays a crucial role in supporting and analyzing Student Affairs Systems, which encompass moderately complex systems, including but not limited to Student Information Systems, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), and Student Records Systems. This position requires the application of intermediate knowledge in business and process analysis as it relates to Student Information Systems.
The analyst will assist in the creation and maintenance of sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups derived from departmental discovery processes. Additionally, the role involves analyzing and resolving production system issues within Student Affairs and campus systems.

Required Qualifications:
Proven skills and methodologies in managing moderately complex operational systems, including providing guidance, managing project scope, setting priorities, establishing timelines, directing modifications, assigning tasks, and delivering feedback.
Ability to develop comprehensive business requirements, specify and design inputs and outputs, produce system and programming specifications, and recommend modifications to existing programs and processes.
Demonstrated expertise in systems analysis and design for moderately complex systems, including conducting feasibility studies, analyzing functional processes, determining project scope, developing overall system requirements, and producing detailed system and programming specifications.
Project Management Skills:
Proficiency in project management, business systems analysis, and problem-solving is essential.
Analytical Abilities:
Ability to analyze operational and organizational systems by defining problems or objectives, identifying relevant factors, and proposing alternatives with their implications.
Testing and Prototyping:
Demonstrated ability to define testing procedures and execute them rigorously. Proven capability to prototype and design user-interface solutions to address user challenges, along with intermediate knowledge of user-interface design patterns and tools for prototyping.
Technical Proficiency:
Intermediate knowledge of complex online interactive systems, ability to schedule production reports, and proficiency in PC software including MS Office and Adobe products. Familiarity with HTML, SQL, SQL objects, Visual Basic, VB Script, VBA, and JavaScript or related programming languages is required.
Business Systems Analysis Methodologies:
Intermediate knowledge of business systems analysis methodologies, including the development of analysis artifacts such as wireframes, use cases, traceability matrices, and process models.
Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups, including administrators, colleagues, managers, technical staff, faculty, students, vendors, and representatives from governmental agencies.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet competing deadlines, and manage varying requirements and complexities of the job. Strong oral communication skills to represent the team and engage effectively in meetings with management and technical teams.
Documentation Skills:
Ability to produce comprehensive, well-organized reports and instructional/technical documentation that includes systems requirements, design specifications, and detailed processing requirements.
Knowledge of Regulations:
Intermediate understanding of Federal and State laws, as well as University of California policies regarding privacy and public information, along with a working knowledge of student record policies and procedures.
Learning and Adaptability:
Demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages and technologies, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
