Position Summary: The Global Head of Information Security is tasked with the creation and execution of a comprehensive information security strategy aimed at safeguarding GATX's data, systems, and assets on a global scale against potential threats. This role requires collaboration across various functions to spearhead significant security initiatives and effectively communicate objectives, risks, and trade-offs to executive leadership and the board of directors in alignment with GATX's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to information security within GATX. Collaborate with executive management to assess acceptable risk levels and propose practical information security solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and advocate for information security policies, standards, and guidelines that comply with contractual obligations, corporate policies, and legal requirements.
  • Define and oversee a multi-year cybersecurity strategy and key performance indicators aimed at risk reduction, ensuring alignment with GATX's business goals.
  • Provide ongoing updates regarding the status of the information security program to the enterprise risk management team, senior leadership, and the board of directors.
  • Manage a cost-effective information security team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Establish an enterprise-wide information security awareness and training program.
  • Offer strategic risk guidance for corporate IT projects, including the assessment and recommendation of technical standards and controls.
  • Supervise periodic IT risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and determine acceptable risk levels.
  • Conduct quality measurement studies to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the information security function.
  • Build and maintain external networks with industry peers, advisory bodies, vendors, and law enforcement to address cybersecurity trends and risks.
  • Coordinate the development of IT contingency plans for responding to security breaches and incidents.
  • Manage the organization's disaster recovery and business continuity practices to ensure critical applications are restored following a disaster.
  • Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts and liaise between Internal/External Audit and the IT Department.
Qualifications:

Interaction: The Global Head of Information Security will plan, organize, and direct information security activities globally, acting as the focal point for all related communications.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role in information security, with a strong background in implementing recognized management frameworks.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance including Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information security, control, and risk management techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess security requirements and implement appropriate controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
