Position Overview: The Global Head of Information Security is tasked with the creation and execution of a comprehensive information security strategy aimed at safeguarding GATX's data, systems, and assets against potential threats on a global scale. This role requires collaboration across various functions to advance key security initiatives and effectively communicate objectives, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership and the board of directors in alignment with GATX's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to information security within GATX, collaborating with executive management to assess acceptable risk levels and recommend effective security solutions.
  • Develop, uphold, and advocate for information security policies, standards, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and manage a multi-year cybersecurity strategy and key performance indicators aimed at minimizing risk while aligning with GATX's business objectives.
  • Provide regular updates on the information security program's status to the enterprise risk management team, senior leaders, and the board as part of a strategic risk management initiative.
  • Oversee a cost-effective information security team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Implement an organization-wide information security awareness and training program.
  • Offer strategic risk guidance for corporate IT projects, including the assessment and recommendation of technical standards and controls.
  • Conduct periodic IT risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend solutions to achieve acceptable risk levels.
  • Perform quality assessments to ensure the information security function operates efficiently and effectively in line with industry standards.
  • Build and maintain external networks with industry peers, advisory bodies, vendors, and law enforcement to address common cybersecurity challenges.
  • Coordinate the development of IT contingency plans to address security breaches and manage the investigation and resolution of incidents.
  • Develop and manage effective disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure critical applications are restored following a disaster.
  • Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts and act as a liaison between internal/external audit and the IT department.
Qualifications:

Interaction: The Global Head of Information Security will plan, organize, and direct global information security activities, serving as the focal point for all related communications.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role within information security, with a background in implementing recognized management frameworks.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance including Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and other relevant standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security, control, and risk management techniques.
  • Strong analytical abilities to evaluate security requirements and correlate them with appropriate controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are essential.
