Disability Law Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new cases and make informed decisions regarding case acceptance.
  • Oversee the Social Security Department team to ensure effective operations.
  • Maintain timely communication with clients, ensuring adherence to guidelines for appeals and hearings.
  • Advocate for clients throughout the federal disability process, focusing on SSD Hearings.
  • Draft necessary legal documents, including pre-hearing briefs and appellate briefs.
  • Assess which hearing denials warrant an appeal to the Appeals Council.
  • Engage with clients to discuss hearing outcomes and potential appeal strategies.
  • Address client inquiries and complaints, ensuring high-quality customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with all appeal deadlines and requirements.
  • Verify that all pertinent medical records are requested and reviewed.
  • Manage outstanding fees and coordinate with accounting for deposits.
  • Supervise the file development process from initiation to closure, ensuring thorough preparation for hearings.
  • Compile and analyze monthly reports on fees, case openings, hearings, and decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited institution.
  • Active attorney license in North Carolina.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in social security law.
  • Strong commitment to client service and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to foster relationships, manage competing priorities, and lead teams.
  • Prior supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with CRM software is preferred.
