Role Summary

The Manager of Strategic Initiatives, reporting to the Director of Strategy, plays a pivotal role in supporting key strategic projects and business management efforts essential for achieving U.S. Soccer's long-term goals. This position collaborates closely with the President, CEO, leadership team, and Board to drive impactful initiatives while managing relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist cross-functional teams within the Strategy group and collaborate with U.S. Soccer members to execute a wide range of strategic projects and objectives, utilizing core project management skills.
  • Conduct qualitative and financial analyses for significant projects, generating analytical insights and effectively communicating findings to inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate the execution of cross-departmental projects and initiatives, including tracking project status, leading meetings, and defining next steps.
  • Provide operational support for external stakeholder relationships, including agenda setting, schedule coordination, and follow-up tracking.
  • Contribute to board preparation and stakeholder management, including conducting analyses for board discussions and finalizing materials.
  • Implement corporate strategy functions by establishing long-term objectives, tracking progress against metrics, and managing internal processes to align with business goals.
  • Build relationships with peers in key external stakeholder groups, leveraging research to identify best practices in business and sporting functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2-4+ years of professional experience, ideally in a top-tier strategy consulting firm, investment banking, or within the sports/media/entertainment sectors.
  • Exceptional quantitative, financial, research, modeling, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and navigating ambiguity to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in engaging with senior executives both internally and externally.
  • Intellectual curiosity with the ability to leverage insights to create new opportunities.
  • Proficient in identifying issues and managing risks.
  • A collaborative mindset focused on personal and team growth.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for soccer.
  • Understanding of soccer culture and its fanbase across North America.
  • Familiarity with the Sports, Entertainment, Media, and Technology industries.
  • Experience in the sports industry, non-profit sector, or national governing bodies.
  • Ability to foresee challenges and identify opportunities to advance U.S. Soccer's initiatives.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language is a plus.
