Job Title: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner- CV Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team at UT Health Science Center. As a key member of our cardiovascular surgery department, you will provide advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex patient evaluations and assessments, and provide appropriate treatment, including monitoring and ordering medications.
  • Coordinate, direct, and implement patient care plans, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform physical examinations, provide episodic care, and assist in collecting patient histories and screening for co-morbidities.
  • Order laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests, and interpret results to inform treatment decisions.
  • Facilitate patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or preventative health care.
Requirements:
  • Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Current specialty certification as required by department, excluding Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification unless paired with a post-master's certification in specialty
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required by department
