Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

UTHealth Houston is seeking a highly skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Cardiovascular Surgery. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic health conditions in a clinic or hospital setting.
- Conduct complex, standardized patient care procedures under the direction of a physician.
- Coordinate, direct, and implement patient care plans, including monitoring and ordering medications.
- Assist in collecting patient histories, screens for co-morbidities, and provides guidance and preventative health care as needed.
- Perform physical examinations and provides episodic care under the supervision of a physician.
- Monitor treatment programs and inform attending physicians of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitate patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or preventative health care.
- Prepare and care for supplies and equipment.
- Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
