Academic Inpatient Physiatrist

University of Minnesota Physicians is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the field of medicine. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced physiatrist to join our team as the Medical Director of our Transitional Care Unit (TCU).
About the RoleThe TCU Medical Director will be responsible for leading a dynamic multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality patient care and driving performance improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical management, leadership, and collaboration with various departments and health systems.
Responsibilities- Provide medical management of patients in the TCU, including coordination of care and discharge planning
- Lead the development and implementation of performance metrics and quality improvement initiatives
- Liaise with hospital teams to address critical needs and represent the TCU in hospital meetings
- Assist with regulatory and compliance matters, including appeals and preparation for regulatory visits
- Participate in call coverage and provide inpatient coverage for vacations
- Grow an outpatient practice, including general PM&R follow-up clinics
- Work with APPs and trainees to provide clinical supervision and instruction
- Graduate of an accredited PM&R residency training program, board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R)
- Minimum of two years of training or experience in medical management of inpatients requiring rehabilitation services
- Eligible to acquire a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges
