Position Summary

U.S.VETS, the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to veteran services, is seeking a Budget Analyst for our Inland Empire location.

U.S.VETS assists over 5,500 veterans nightly with essential services such as housing, counseling, and career support across 32 sites. Our mission is to eradicate veteran homelessness by developing housing solutions nationwide and enhancing critical prevention programs that aid post-9/11 veterans and their families in their transition to civilian life. This role reports to the VP of Fiscal Evaluation and Compliance and collaborates with the Executive Director at the local U.S.VETS site. The primary duties include generating grant and contract billing, preparing annual budgets, and monitoring the financial performance of programs to ensure fiscal health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit grant and contract funding requests.
  • Ensure timely collection of site-related receivables.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and all regulatory requirements.
  • Align financial activities with grant applications and awards.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and grant budgets in collaboration with the Site Operations Manager and Executive Director.
  • Prepare modifications to grant budgets as needed.
  • Monitor financial performance of site programs and coordinate with the National Office on necessary actions.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting financial reports required by funders.
  • Generate internal financial reports and analyses as necessary.
  • Perform additional site-related accounting tasks.
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide updates on financial status.
  • Engage in site activities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OMB Circulars.
  • Experience with Non-Profit Fund Accounting Software (MIP preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Capacity to follow directions effectively.
