About the Role

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team as an On-call Substitute Teacher. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Instructional Support: Provide high-quality instructional support to students, utilizing curriculum materials and educational software to promote academic achievement.
  • Develop Daily Lesson Plans: Create and implement daily lesson plans that align with state and school requirements, ensuring a structured and effective learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with fellow teachers and support staff to provide instructional support and approved modifications to the curriculum.
  • Maintain a Safe and Secure Learning Environment: Implement standards for student behavior, providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Maintain regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform them of student progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes or situations that may affect school performance.
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Actively participate in team meetings to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Assess Student Progress: Consistently review classroom data collection and recording systems to assess student progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay Current with Research-Based Practices: Stay up-to-date with research-based practices and developments in subject areas, resources, and professional development.
  • Respond to Feedback: Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback, using it as an opportunity for growth and improvement.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Meet all state substitute teaching credential and/or licensing requirements.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in an education and/or classroom setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Advanced skills in working with students with disabilities and diverse needs at various levels, as well as advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Technology: Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
