Job Title: Supply Chain Procurement Lead

Location: Memphis, TN

Position Overview: Vaco is looking for a skilled Supply Chain Procurement Lead to enhance and streamline purchasing operations. This essential position is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of steel tubing, pallets, screws, and various metal components, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement while upholding exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Oversight: Manage the procurement of steel tubing and related metal components, overseeing an annual budget of around $20M. Identify and source materials from diverse suppliers to fulfill production requirements.
  • Contract Negotiation: Engage in negotiations to establish contracts and agreements that secure advantageous pricing and terms, focusing on cost efficiency while maintaining quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Partner with Plant Managers to gain insights into manufacturing needs. Adapt procurement strategies to align with current and anticipated requirements.
  • Contract Centralization: Enhance purchasing processes by centralizing contracts, fostering consistency across various plant locations.
  • Supplier Management: Address supplier-related issues and optimize delivery schedules to meet production timelines. Cultivate and maintain robust supplier relationships.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Ensure accurate documentation of procurement activities, including contracts, pricing, and assessments of supplier performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in procurement, particularly in purchasing steel or comparable commodities.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated negotiation capabilities.
    • Experience in managing supplier partnerships.
    • Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in purchasing steel within a manufacturing context, with an understanding of various steel grades and specifications.
  • Aptitude for thriving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
  • Prior experience in centralizing procurement functions across multiple sites.
