About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for an Experienced Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. As a key member of our Fire Protection Engineering Organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our facilities and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fire hazard analyses to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review and ensure compliance with NFPA/ICC codes and regulations.
  • Specify technical aspects of fire protection systems to ensure Life Safety compliance.
  • Perform building walkdowns to assess compliance with Department of Energy standards.
  • Mentor and provide direction to less senior engineers within the organization.
  • Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems.
  • Utilize SRNS systems and meet SRNS requirements with minimal supervisory guidance.
  • Accept complex tasks and receive minimal guidance from senior professionals.
  • Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
  • Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases.
  • Develop alternate solutions to existing problems.
  • Perform all detail work necessary to determine best solutions.
  • Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment.
  • Delegating and managing portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.
  • Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area.
  • Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort.
  • Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
  • Qualified Fire Protection Engineer.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques within Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
