Tech Army is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading technical tasks, developing creative solutions, and providing guidance to less senior engineering professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scope technical tasks and develop innovative solutions to assigned problems.
- Begin using systems and meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance.
- Accept complex tasks and receive minimal guidance from senior professionals.
- Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
- Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases.
- Develop alternate solutions to existing problems.
- Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment.
- May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.
- Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area.
- Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort.
- Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles.
Requirements:
- Education: In applicable science or engineering discipline entry level PhD degree, MS degree with 2-4 years' experience; or BS and 5-10 years' experience.
- Experience/Skills:
- Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques.
- Has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
- Candidate must demonstrate 15 or more years' experience in engineering-related positions, including a minimum of 10 years' experience on DOE projects.
- Candidate must demonstrate experience participating in systems engineering teams, with responsibilities including engineering program, plan, and procedure development, value engineering studies, and requirements & assumptions tracking.
- Candidate must be able to work independently and within a multi-discipline team.
- Prior SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures is preferred.
- Occasional travel is required.
Security Clearance:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
