Position Overview

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is in search of experienced Fire Protection Design Engineers with a strong background in fire alarm and detection system design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing detailed engineering documents, including drawings, calculations, and specifications, while supporting construction and startup activities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Fire Protection Design Engineer, your primary duties will include:

1. Conducting engineering task analysis and site walk-downs.
2. Developing design output documents such as Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, and Logic Diagrams in compliance with national codes and standards.
3. Providing technical support to construction teams and suppliers throughout project phases.
4. Preparing essential documentation including Data Sheets, Statements of Work, and Procurement Specifications.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- General knowledge of electrical/control systems and related engineering practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to conduct field walk-downs.

Desired Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

- A degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection or NICET Level III in the applicable subfield.
- Previous experience in design engineering within nuclear or chemical process industries.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as NFPA and IBC.
