Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

At Connecticut Children's, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and assemble surgical instruments to ensure they are clean, functioning properly, and complete.
  • Perform steam and Sterrad sterilization, and high-level disinfection according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and record sterilization and disinfection processes, including knowledge of procedures for monitoring failures and the recall procedure.
  • Prepare and fill case carts with supplies and instruments according to preference card pick lists.
  • Retrieve surgeon preference cards from Care Navigator for add-on procedures.
  • Retrieve case carts from Operating Rooms and deliver to the decontamination area throughout the shift.
  • Retrieve contaminated instruments from patient care areas.
  • Issue and/or deliver medical-surgical instruments and supplies to patient care areas.
  • Prepare, replenish, and exchange emergency code carts.
  • Transport medication trays for code cart replenishment.
  • Order and stock medical-surgical supplies.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school.
  • One year of recent full-time CSR experience preferred.
  • Central Sterile Technician certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service and Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
