IT Database Professional

This is a unique opportunity to join the Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health at the University of Georgia – Tifton Campus (Bugwood) as an IT Database Professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with center staff, federal and state agencies, and other stakeholders to maintain and develop data Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) routines for data import and export.
Key Responsibilities- Develop Extract, Transform, and Load routines for data import and export, ensuring high fidelity between source data and downstream products.
- Analyze data in source format, understand source data types, schema, and ontology to accurately match with concepts in destination data formats.
- Develop queries to summarize data for use in data reports and value-added export, working collaboratively with programmers at the center for delivery of some reports to users online or through scheduled report delivery.
- Routine Debugging, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance for both data products and automated routines.
- Responsible for documenting the current routines that are in place, researching other methods for achieving the same or similar outcomes, and determining which are most effective for meeting the expectations of the end users.
- Familiarity with AWS Services for Data warehousing including Glue, Athena, Data Pipeline, Data Exchange.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Preferred experience with Spatial Data.
- SQL, Python, or other ETL related languages.
- Able to maintain appropriate documentation for data formats and schemas.
- Working knowledge of or proven capability to quickly learn additional programming languages, systems, and other tools as needed.
