Job Summary

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Fleet Maintenance to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our fleet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet management, with a focus on preventive maintenance and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedules for our fleet
• Manage a budget for the maintenance program and implement innovative preventive maintenance initiatives
• Monitor and analyze maintenance reports to identify areas for improvement
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and environmental requirements
• Manage and interface with unionized labor
• Track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers, and warranty cost savings
• Prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments
• Manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats

Requirements

• Minimum of 8-10 years of combined experience in fixed route bus maintenance management
• Experience managing/directing 20+ employees (fleet techs/service workers/cleaners)
• Experience working with 100+ buses within the last year
• Experience working in the transit industry within the last year
• Previous passenger transportation experience in a current project or similar environment preferred
• Client interface track record on strategic fleet initiatives, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements
• Ability to manage and interface with unionized labor
• Ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers, and warranty cost savings
• Ability to properly prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments
• Ability to manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats
• Technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
• ASE or manufacturer's certifications a plus
• Technical experience with fixed route/coach transit bus maintenance
• Solid knowledge of managing audits, PM schedules
• Experience with Diesel, CNG, and Alternative fuels a plus
• College degree or equivalent business management experience
• Management experience required
• Experienced in Word, Excel, and database software and fleet software platforms
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of multi-tasking skills
• CDL Class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement
